WALTER VAN
BEIRENDONCK
MOMU Museum x DEVINE

OVERVIEW
As a collaboration between the MOMU Museum and the Devine, the task was to create a interactive storytelling website. I followed the unique style of Walter van Beirendonck, and introduced him as a bold, modern fashion designer - using motion, mixed-media visuals.
The experience showcases photography of his art and being, in a brutalist and avant-garde style, guiding the reader through the process of how the artist evolved from a shaman to a The Jester of fashion.
SOLUTION
I built a responsive, scroll-driven one-pager The experience opens with a portrait that follows your cursor— revealing the jester —then a timeline guides you through Walter’s life. The palette mirrors his artwork, his fashion pieces, colorful - but confrontational; a serif display works with a highly readable text face to stay museum-clean. Motion uses quick entrances and gentle exits, with eased offsets and parallax kept below distraction thresholds.
